The Fleet Branding Checklist.
The points every recognizable fleet has in common. Use this to evaluate your current fleet or set the standard for a new one.
A fleet that builds recognition does not happen by accident. The vehicles that generate calls share the same qualities: clear hierarchy, consistent presentation, durable materials, and maintenance that keeps the impression strong over time. The checklist below covers each of those dimensions.
Design readability
The wrap must communicate your business in the window of time a driver actually sees you.
- Company name readable at 45 MPH from both sides of the vehicle
- Service category visible before the logo ("Plumbing," "HVAC," "Pest Control")
- Phone number minimum 4 inches tall on a full-size van or cargo van
- No more than three colors in the primary layout
- High contrast between background and primary text
- No script or decorative fonts for the service category or phone number
- Back-of-vehicle layout includes company name and phone, not just a logo
Brand consistency
Every vehicle should read as the same company, regardless of make, model, or age.
- Same logo version and orientation used on all vehicles (no mix of old and new logos)
- Same color values across all vehicles (matched hex codes, not approximate color matching)
- Same phone number on all vehicles (no individual technician cell numbers)
- Consistent website URL format across all vehicles and materials
- New vehicle designs match the established fleet template before going into service
Production standards
Material and installation quality determine how long the wrap performs in the field.
- Printed on 3M premium cast vinyl, not economy calendered film
- HP Latex or UV-cured inks for outdoor color durability
- Installed in a climate-controlled environment (not in a parking lot or open bay)
- No seams placed over compound curves, mirrors, or door handles
- Vehicle surface properly cleaned and prepared before installation
- 2-year limited warranty on workmanship and adhesion from the installer
Ongoing fleet health
A fleet degrades over time if damaged panels are ignored and new vehicles go unbranded.
- New vehicles wrapped within 30 days of acquisition
- Damaged or peeling panels replaced promptly, not left as-is on active vehicles
- Wrap condition reviewed annually alongside vehicle maintenance
- Retired vehicles have wraps removed before resale or auction
- Wrap files archived with your installer so reprints are fast and consistent
